A Voice from Cambodia: As a Youth Tourism Ambassador

As a young Cambodian, I have always been proud of my country; A land rich with history, culture, and warmth. I’ve learned that being a Youth Tourism Ambassador is more than just showing people where to go. It’s about sharing the soul of Cambodia through our stories; Stories that make others feel our beauty, kindness and strength.

When I tell a story now, I want people to feel like they are walking beside me through our land. I want them to see the golden sunrise shining over the rice fields, to smell the aroma of Kampot pepper and to hear the laughter of children by the Mekong River. I want them to feel the calm when visiting an ancient temple in Siem Reap, the energy of Phnom Penh’s busy streets and the peaceful of village life where time moves slowly but hearts are always warm.

Cambodia is not just a destination but it’s a living story. Every person, every smile, every tradition carries meaning. The farmer who works under the hot sun, the craftswoman weaving silk with patience, the young guide sharing stories of his hometown; They all are storytellers in their own way. They represent the true spirit of Cambodia: humble, hopeful, and full of heart.

As a Youth Tourism Ambassador, I want to be a bridge between Cambodia and the world. I want to tell stories that inspire visitors not just to see our beauty, but to understand it, to respect our traditions, support our communities, and connect with our people. I want to show that tourism is not only about travel, but also about learning, sharing, and growing together.

Through the MLC Youth Tourism Ambassador Program, I’ve discovered the power of young voices in shaping the future of tourism. This program has inspired me to tell authentic stories that reflect who we are and what we stand for. It connects me with other passionate youth across the Mekong region who share the same dream — to promote responsible tourism, protect our culture and environment, and strengthen the friendship among our countries. Being part of this program gives me pride and purpose; it reminds me that even as one voice, I can make a difference for my community and for Cambodia.

I’ve learned that every story we tell can shape how others see our country. So, I choose to tell stories that come from love, stories that celebrate who we are, where we come from, and what we dream to become. Cambodia has faced many challenges, but our smiles remain strong. Our culture, our music, our art, and our kindness are treasures that deserve to be shared with the world. My voice may be small, but as a Youth Tourism Ambassador, I hope it carries the sound of Cambodia — a voice of warmth, pride, and hope for the future. I believe that when young people like me tell our stories with heart, we help the world fall in love with Cambodia, just as we do every single day.

“ Cambodia is more than a destination but it’s a living story of culture, kindness, and resilience, where every smile and tradition invites the world to connect with our spirit.”

“ As a Youth Tourism Ambassador, I want the world to see Cambodia not just with their eyes, but with their hearts to feel our stories, our smiles and our spirit of togetherness.”
