Phnom Krom: the hidden sunset spot of Siem Reap

As a proud Cambodian, I am excited to share about the beauty of Phnom Krom mountain, which I got a chance to visited in August this year. The mountain have a beautiful temple as well as the best spot to experience the sunset and new exploration of village life. While many travelers straight to the famous Angkor Wat and Bakheng mountain, few know that just a short distance away lies a location that truly captures the essence of our culture and natural beauty. Phnom Krom meaning “Lower Mountain” is not just a site with stunning views, it’s a landscape and wide view of Tonle Sap lake. What makes this spot even more special is its calm atmosphere. Unlike the bustling tourist spots, Phnom Krom provides a peaceful retreat where you can connect with nature and reflect on the beauty of life. Along the way, you might encounter local villagers, who are always ready to share tales of their daily lives and the rich cultural heritage of the Khmer people. Phnom Krom is more than just a viewpoint, it’s a celebration of our community, culture and the breathtaking beauty of our landscapes. I encourage travelers to seek out this hidden treasure, to experience the warmth of Cambodian hospitality and witness a sunset that will forever be in their hearts. As the sun begins to set, I invite you to take a moment to appreciate the sounds of nature—the gentle rustle of leaves, the distant call of birds, and the soft whispers of the wind. It’s a time for reflection, making memories, and truly embracing the spirit of Cambodia. Join me in discovering Phnom Krom an enchanting place that shows why Cambodia is a destination worth exploring.
